The Todoist alternative

Don't track the follow-up. Approve it.

Todoist is the best place to keep a list, and the list is still yours to write and yours to do. Demi notices what your day committed you to across email, Slack, calendar and meetings, prepares the work itself, and waits for your approval. Work done, before it slips.

  • Context from across your work
  • Prepared before you ask
  • You approve the next step

Which one is right for you

Choose Demi if

  • You want the follow-up done, not another task about it.
  • Your commitments come from calls, email and Slack, not a list.
  • You work on a Mac and want the assistant there too.
  • You want something that learns how you work.

Choose Todoist if

  • You want a list you fully control, task by task.
  • You need it on Windows, Android or your watch.
  • Groceries, errands and habits are most of what you track.

One promise. One of them is still on a list.

On a call this morning you said you would send Nadia the revised pricing by the end of the day.

Ask an AI for the best Todoist alternative

Three assistants, three real questions, already typed. Open any of them and read what it says without us in the room.

Demi vs Todoist
questions

  • For work, yes, though they do different jobs. Todoist is a to-do list you fill and then work through. Demi is an AI assistant that notices what you committed to across your email, calls and Slack, and prepares the work for you to approve. If you want a better list, Todoist is excellent. If you want the list to get done, that is Demi.

  • No. Demi does not ask you to keep a list. It picks up commitments from your calls, email, Slack and calendar, and prepares the follow-up, the CRM update or the meeting brief for your approval.

  • Yes, and plenty of people will. Keep Todoist for groceries, errands and habits, and let Demi handle the commitments that come out of your working day.

  • Yes. Todoist's AI can turn your voice or a forwarded email into tasks, break a task into steps and sort your list. You start each one, and it organises the work rather than doing it. Demi drafts the reply and updates the deal itself, then waits for your approval.

  • No. Every task begins with you adding, forwarding, dictating or capturing it, and calendar events stay read-only. Demi notices the commitments your day created without you writing them down.

  • Both start free, and the free plans do very different things. Demi's includes up to $50 in credits for the work itself, the drafts, the CRM updates and the meeting notes, with every integration included. Todoist's free plan gives you a list with a little AI for adding and sorting tasks, and even its paid plans leave the work itself to you.

  • Yes. If you want a list you control task by task, need it on Windows, Android or a watch, or mostly track personal errands and habits, Todoist has nearly twenty years and more than 50 million users behind it. If you want the work behind the tasks done, that is Demi.

  • No. Demi is a Mac app, and your team can also reach it in Slack. Todoist runs on Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android, the web and watches.

  • Demi is SOC 2 Type II certified, CASA Tier II assessed and Google-verified for restricted Gmail scopes. Your data is never used to train models, and every action is staged for your approval before it happens.

  • Demi has a free plan rather than a trial. Download it for Mac with no card required, and new accounts get up to $50 in credits. Paid individual plans start at $25 a month with credits included, and you can add more any time.

Where Todoist slows you down

  • Every task starts with you

Typing it, saying it out loud, forwarding an email or using a Slack command: every way into Todoist begins with you noticing the task and putting it there. Calendar events show up read-only and, in Todoist's own words, won't become tasks.

  • It holds the work, it doesn't do it

Todoist's AI breaks a task into steps, rewrites it or turns a forwarded email into a task. None of it drafts the reply, updates the deal or writes up the meeting. Ticking the box is the easy part.

  • It doesn't learn how you work

Todoist describes no memory of your habits or priorities, and says preferences may come later. It also has no native CRM integration, so the deal the task is about lives somewhere else.
